Nothing other than it will allow you to run a longer shock if you need it for suspension travel. Most also allow multiple shocks, which aren't needed unless you're doing some high speed desert running or racing.

My early CJ (1977) had the short shock mounts. I cut them off and welded on Wagoneer mounts. It gave me an extra 3-4" of height.

If you running shock hoops watch to make sure to loop the brake lines up.

The shock tends to pinch the lines when they hoop down. O:)

why not get some shock towers from an F250.. simple 3 bolts or weld it to the frame for an extra 4 or so inches of travel.. the towers are cheap too... I think they have them for about $30 a piece..

Nothing wrong with shock towers. Most guys build with hoops and tie them into a front stinger style bumper or other types of tubing.

Nothing wrong with hoops, but the F250 path is quick and for $25 a lot cheaper :?
