I am having problems with a 1948cj2a with a new motor in it. I have spark compression and fuel and have checked the ignition timing but I cannot get this motor to do any more than fire once or twice. Can anybody tell me how the coil is supposed to be wired on the L head 4 cylinder and give me any reasons that this motor should not at least try to run.

Have you tried dripping a little gas down through the carb while trying to start it?
What all had you just done to it before trying to start it? (rebuild, tune up, replace anything).
I think on that model of engine and coil the hot wire goes to the neg side and the pos goes to the resister.
