Hmm, searching through the forum it seems that 36-38 degrees is what people are saying to run for timing.

The instructions with my Keith Black KB354 hypereutectic pistons say to run 2 - 4 deg less timing.

Currently I'm running 11 initial + 21 mechanical for 32 total by 3100 rpm.

It seems that it could use a little more, but I don't want to have detonation. :-|

My specs are.
401, .040 over
XE256 cam
RPM Air gap manifold
KB354 pistons

Any suggestions on timing for this engine combination?

Our engine specs are identical to yours except for the cam. I didn't see that about adjusting the timing for the KB pistons, but we ended up reducing our intial timng because it was running hot. We ended up with 5 degrees if I remember correctly, so that would fit right in with the KB recommendation to run 2 to 4 less. I think OEM is around 8, minus 2 to 4 would give 4 to 6, right where we ended up.
