engine swap vs rebuild of a 86 Grand Wagoneer

I own a 1986 Grand Wagoneer and I am debating a engine swap vs rebuild and making it an EFI. The biggest problem I have with the 360 is the poor AC unit and lack of power. If I can get better than the 10 MPG I am getting now that would be great. Any suggestions? I currently live in Korea and I will retire in 5 months and would like to have the parts waiting to rebuild when I get back.

You really can build a AMC 360 to build power in the range you need it and that AC unit when porperly charged and sealed works EXTREMELY well. You could also do a swap and have more money into it than a rebuild and re-forming of the power you need. I am a purist so I am against the odd motor in place of a true red white and blue AMC iron mill. :wink:
