I recently bought an edelbrock performer intake off of craigslist, and did not notice until I got home that there was a hole drilled through the bottom of each side of the two planes under where the carb mounts. I was wondering if anybody had ever heard of or seen this, and what it might be for. The intake has the shield already mounted to the bottom, so I can't even tell if the holes are to the valley or somewhere else. Any help is appreciated, I hope I didn't buy a junk intake.

You bought an EGR equipped manifold ? Those are the EGR ports.

You can still use it for non-egr application. Just put pipe plugs in the two holes and an egr block off plate on the egr mounting face.

My 401 has been running that way for a good while.
