What are the benefits of using the machine torch instead of the hand torch? I have another plasma cutter to use for reg. hand cutting so this machine will be strictly for the table use.

1. The machine torch allows quick hookup to a DTHC system designed by the mfg of the torch (not needed with our system)
2. The machine torch looks great and professional on a table
3. Most machine torches have a brass gear rack on the side which also works with the mfgs DTHC unit.

The machine torch uses the same consumables as a hand torch. You should not need a machine torch however most folks that dont know they can do the same with both will only consider a machine torch. Some of our BTA CNC Plasma users actually prefer the look of the machine torch and feel their customers do as well. Some machine torches will have a higher duty cycle IIRC.

Machine torch is generally easier to square to the plate, lead management is usually easier. Hand torches have a composite body that is exposed to pierce spatter due to the fact that they are mostly parallel to the plate.

Also, with the machine torch mounted on a Hypertherm plasma system you can accss the plasma interface signals on the rear panel receptacle on the power supply...if the hand torch is plugged in the start signal is not active for safety reasons.

Duty cycle and performance (with Hypertherm Powermax units) is the same for either hand or machine torch.
