:(: I finally got my heads back from the machinist and am ready to install them. I wanted to clay a piston to see what the clearances are since I had .025 milled off the heads.

Unfortunately I do not still have the old lifters and have run into a problem. When I rotated the engine I see that I am not getting enough lift out of the new uncharged lifters. How can I pump the new lifters up and can I pump them up enough by hand so I can make my clearance test? I really need to know. As I said I do not have the old lifters to use.

Finished heads with SS valves and polished combustion chambers. Also note the Signh grooves cut into quench area.

Clay strips on the piston to check clearances.

You just need to find an old lifter and make it solid. Or borrow (or buy) a solid lifter from somebody.
