Have a 290 and a 390 both without flywheels. Having a hard time locating and purchasing same without a "new" purchase. Some of the other forums mention an adapter that was made by Bulltear in the past to mate a newer flywheel on the earlier flat ended cranks of the 67-70 era. Just wondering is someone knows of same or has any useful information, even possibly someone wanting to part with a flywheel. (I've done a few searches on the posts here and couldn't locate same) Cheers, Cam

amclives.com still sells the adapter, it's $329, so you may be better off sourcing a flywheel. https://www.amclives.com/collections/adapters-and-related

If your cranks are out of the engines, there are specs to have the crank machined to 72-up size posted somewhere on the web. https://theamcforum.com/forum/bw-vs-torqueflite_topic90775.html

I don't know if MC still sells the adapter. Hopefully he'll see this post.

Thanks for that info. My application is different in that I want to mate a T-10 manual (original transmission) back onto this 290. It looks like AMC Lives have adapters for an auto application only. The spec sheet image in the other link (crank machining) also appears for a Auto application. I sent AMC Lives an email and maybe they have/know something. It may be as you stated a new flywheel order after all.

Thanks, Cam

The auto application is how the factory crank is machined. You'd still have to install a pilot bushing in the adapter for a standard trans.
