Thanks for the info. My 80 cj7 304 t176 has 3.07 gears. I would like a little lower gear so maby I will get lucky. anyone need a quadratrack tranny and transfer case out of a 78 gold eagle cherokee. I was told it was rebuilt before the engin blew.

Cool Now I don't have to get under there and lift a wheel and spin it.

Fuzz,
Where's the best place you found to get shop manuals? I need one for my 87 YJ (and a 2003 Dodge) and the places I've looked wanted >$150 or were out of stock..

Thanks mucho

Thanks, took a look and they go back to '92 and up to '02, but not for a 2003 2500 Dodge
The hunt continues... :(

Thanks

Seems I have the 3.54s what do you think about those on well 31's for now and later 33's for towing? Or should I make a change to 3.90 or 4.10?

definately 4:10 or greater, using a mid 3 will ultimately roach your tranny

Ok cool so my thoughts were right about the 4.10's then. I run those now in my YJ with 32's and a 5 speed and they are awesome.

and my appoligy to you M.T. Summer for the hijack.

It's W.T. but no problem, long as I get called to supper. I seem to learn something from every post. My CJ has 3.07 gears in it now with 33 in. tires , if i put the 3.54 cherokee axles under it I think it will do what I want.

with the 3:54 you will see a diff on the road and off it will give you a little more power with 33 i think 4.11 would put you were it was with stock tires

I knew I was dislexic but never knew it made it upside down also LOL. I had 3.07's with 31's and hated life, I can't imagine what you are going through with 33's.

With the t176 and 300 transfer case it is not too bad but I need it just a little lower.

Is it a Th-400?

Tell me what to look for to tell if it is a 400 trany. I also have a 74 j10 with auto trany but not the q-trac . I am in Roxboro N.C. north of Durham

The Th-400 tranny pan looks like the State of Texas (shape).

Maybe someone could post a pic of it.

the th-400 was the only auto tranny used by jeep till 79 then they went to the 727 -999 -904

actually Fuzz I think it was 1980 when they went to the 727. I had a 79 Waggie when I was a kid that had a th400 in it.

W.T.Sumner

If that is right ,I might have 3 of them , 74 j10, 76,77 cherokees

any one know if the yoke off a quadratrack will fit on the 300 transfer case? I would like to use the front drive shaft ,the one with the double u-joint in the rear of my cj7. It looks like about the same length.

jeepsr4ever

quad yoke came in 2 counts 10 spline and .?????? 31spline???? dont know but i do know both of them dont fit a 300, sorry

What was the 300 used in and what are its advantages/disadvnatages over the 20?

jeepsr4ever
10-22-2003, 12:21 AM
The 300 was used in 80-86 cj's 1980 scouts and it had a 2:46-1 low ratio and was a little stouter than the 20 case, the 20 having a 2-1 low ratio was a decent case but the 300 is the ticket if your thrifty or dont want to spend a stupid amount of money on your T-case (atlas)

They bolt up to a th400 w/ and an adapter?? Was that a stock item or is it stricktly aftermarket?

jeepsr4ever
10-22-2003, 12:32 AM
Only the 20 was bolted to a th400 in specific years 67-73 FSJ (*)
