I'd like to know what people think of the Z-box if anyone is using them, specifically how they hold up over the long haul and if they would consider them durable enough for a FSJ with one ton axles and 40" tires.

There is a product review at: http://www.4x4wire.com/jeep/reviews/zboxes02/

They are available, and there is a better pic of them at: http://www.4wd.com

I am asking because from what I've seen Revolvers don't open fully and the springs actually twist at the fixed end leading to breakage because they don't flex with the dropping axle. Going with a military wrap spring would help the spring last longer, but it won't fit the Revolver shackle and would also not flex as well.
Something like the Z-box, if durable for FSJ use would possibly be a good compliment to the new drop shackles some of us are looking forward to.
Whatchy'all think?

Well I was asking about the revolvers 'cause I figured maybe someone was running 'em with the Z-box, but I am mostly interested in how they hold up or would hold up on a FSJ.... in combination with whatchr 'yer building for a drop shackle.

The Z boxes to me look like engineered crap... i know it sounds bad but dang look at those things talk about old school! I dont know what you could expect from that set-up but you may find that when rested youraxle might be laying off to one side, maybe not though!?

Well, I found one article where the guy had them on a Wrangler that he used in a major X-country race in Taiwan, he was one of just four to complete. Unfortunately he never talked about how the Z-box worked for him... apparently it did, and apparently it didn't 'cause him any hardships either. Judging from some of the pics of the race, any vehicle to complete was doing darn good.
If they'd work at all I'd be inclined to use them to keep from twisting springs off, which is just going to happen sooner or later without something of this sort to compensate for the shackle drop. I'm no judge of engineering and haven't seen anything out there to compare this too, but if a better design could be had.... I'm all for it.

Ok, here's another way around the spring twist without using the Z-box:
