the 20 if you want to see how long you could make it last. I give it 2 runs.

I would go 60 or if you plan on going up around 44"s or so I would go with the 70

i plan on running 35's nothing bigger than a 36 and am going to try my luck with 44's Which should work out fine since I am not really heavy on the gas.

I would suggest a 9" or a dana 60. a 9" can be made any width by most racing guys but the stock shafts arent up to the task just about the same for the 60. hmmmmmmmmm :-|

Save yourself from breaking parts. Dana 60.
If you use a Detroit the ford 9in it can be uncomfortable to drive on the street (engagement can sometimes push you into the next lane, this just seems to be worse with the 9in).
Dana 70 & 80 to heavey to bulky.
AMC 20 why ask?

Another vote for the D60. :t:

I know I would really love to put dual D60's under this new project vice the D44's I have for it.

I would vote for the FF60 for anything up tp 40's. The 60 can be built with alloy axles and a Detroit with quality gears and will hold up quite well in a CJ. Over that a 70. The 80 is limited in gear selection with 5:38 the lowest and is very, very heavy. The 9" is not good over 35" tires if you drive it hard even with all the expensive goodies that take the Ford out of it.

If you want to really push it, you could go with Rockwells :lo1l:

I say go with a dana 30 front with 2.72 ring and pinions and a rockwell rear with stock 6.17 gears. Oh, and make sure the 30 is from a narrow track CJ!!!

70 and shave it .... stock only 5/16 less ground clearence then a 60 and you get 1.5 inch axles and 35 splines. 70 is also about 100 lbs lighter then a 14 bolt. Can be found just about as easy as a 60.

What wrong fuzz. Having second thougts on that rear you got.

9" can be made strong, but you are running an auto and a Low Pinion (' ain't gonna help much.

I am going RC 60 up front with a RC 60 in the back with 1.5" 35 spline shafts, Detroits front and rear.
