StaBil Used in Fuel - Problems ?

Put StaBil in the gas tank last November. Drove car for the first time today.
Had the Moroso See-Through Sight Plugs in the Holley Bowls.
They were leaking when I got back home.
Pulled them out and they were now real soft instead of hard plastic like they were when new.
Wondered if it was the StaBil that somehow made them soft ???

Anyone else had any "problems" like this when using StaBil ?
like it causing rubber or plastic parts to get / go soft ?

Allright, I know, add a couple Viagra pills to the gas tank right ?

The only problem I've had with StaBil is I put a little 2 much #-o in my weedwacker and I had to dump the gas out and put new in.

stabil shouldnt do that. its made to be safe for the fuel system. Did you use anything to clean the carb like brake cleaner cause that will cause plastic to get soft.

I used it in my drag car cell and I did not see any thing leaking when I was a GAD last weekend. Or a few weeks before when I hit the track for the first time since winter.
I will have to check it better before next outing.

No carb cleaner used.
The Moroso Sight Screws have been in there for years
and always use the same brand of gasoline.
Only thing done different was the Sta-Bil last November
and that was the first time it has been used.
Put sight screws out in the sun and now seem "normal".
Wonder if a "new" gasoline formulation last winter ?
Stock Holley brass sight plugs in there for now.
Not blaming the gas or the Sta-Bil.
It's just a curious thing that happened.

I've never had a problem with gas going bad stored over the winter, I have picked up stuff that sat longer and had good luck adding sea-foam to it.

There are no plans to add anything to my fuel tank this autumn for over the winter storage other than Sunoco 94.

well a word to the wise on this one.. They have changed the formulations for gas, (new additives and taken some others out) I am not sure of the specifics but It goes bad quicker and If there is any Ethanol in it it will draw moisture.. but fill the tank FULL or Empty but not inbetween.. the temprature flucuations cause condensation in a half full tank.

I have a street rod and all my other gas powered equipment.. I treat the tank with stabil or sea foam either one.. then shut the fuel pump (or pull the fuel line) and run them out.. that way they do dry out but just once.. and you dont get the gum and sediment from fuel evaporating slowly..

Just somehting thats worked for me..
