Serpentine pulley alignment

Just had to replace the cam and distributor gear and now Im having a heck of a time getting the pulleys on the serpentine kit realigned. are there any tricks? I didnt have a big problem getting them to work the first time. Now it just squeaks and screams down the highway but when I put a small shot of silicon or white lithium on the pulleys or the belt it goes away instantly but comes back after about a minute or so. Also the upper idler on my alternator bracket doesnt spin true, it kind of wobles. Everything else is good though.

360 with power steering and sanden a/c.

Sounds like you need some bearings. There will be a service kit for serpentine systems that will be in the E-store shortly. It includes 2 new bearings and a new retention clip.

Any trick to getting the shoulder bolt out? mine seems like its in with lock tite or a gorilla tightened it.

You think thats it or are the belts still out of alignment?

Heat will get the shoulder bolt out. We use RED loctite on those. If the pulleys are out of alignment this happens so run a strait edge from the crank and see if the water pump pulley moved out. If it did the pump will start to weep soon and should be replaced. If not and all the pulleys line up straight then you should think about replacing that idler.

So I finally got around to checking the alignment and I didnt realize it but the alternator pulley is almost a 1/4 of an inch behind the others! How can I move that forward without pushing the main bracket forward too?

Spacer behind the pulley as long as there's enough threads on the shaft to get the nut on. Otherwise you'll need to move the entire alternator or the bracket forward.

Any tips for getting the nut off the front of the pulley? I have a puller but having a heck of a time getting the nut off.

Usually come off pretty easily with an impact wrench. You can hold the pulley with a strap wrench or leave the belt in place until the nut is loose.
