Main Cap Bolts or Studs
ARP doesn't have much info on AMC's. I've seen listings for Milodon, but I'd prefer ARP. I've seen (on various websites) where the 1970 360 CID engines will accept bolts/studs made for either Ford's 351C or Chevy's BB.
I believe this is a "late" 1970 360 as it came out of the car w/Dog Leg exhaust ports and I've been told that the early 1970 360 had square(ish) exhaust ports?
Has anyone else used either of the above bolt/stud kits for their 360?
Thx.

Main caps are 1/2-13 thread and will accept almost any stud that is long enough. The ARP big block chevy fit. 1970-1991 all had dogleg exhaust, earlier had square port.

My latest build I used ARP studs # 154-5403. application is Ford 351W. Like above, 66-69 (gen2) AMCs had the square port heads, 70-up (gen3) all had dog leg heads. If yours is a 70, it will have the more desirable 316291C casting number heads. These were only used in 1970 and early 71. They have a slightly smaller combustion chamber for better compression, although the exhaust doesn't flow quite as well as the later heads (they are better than the square port heads). The 70 will also have a flat flange on the back of the crankshaft, 72-up had a stepped flange. You will need a pre-72 flexplate or flywheel if you don't have one.
