Question, if I pull timing cover do I have to pull the oil pump shaft first ?
Also, if I do pull the pump do I have to line up any oil passages or anything crazy like that?
Thanks,
Jim

Will this timing set work - http://www.summitracing.com/parts/edl-7818

The oil pump is part of the cover. It comes off with it, no need to disassemble.
I ran an Edelbrock set on my Jeep for 40K+ miles with no problem, that set will work.

Thank you again Bob-U R a lifesaver :)
Bob what is the advantage of degreeing the cam w/this timing chain set up I'm about to buy.
I think the stock config is best for her 304.
Thanks,
Jim
Bob, can we just pull the oil pump and put a new one in (KIT)?

OR, do we have to check clearances etc?
Also, do we pack the pump w/petroleum jelly or what to prime it?
Thanks,
Jim
Degreeing the cam just assures that the valves are fully open when they're supposed to be in relation to the crank. If you're leaving the stock cam in it, install it at "0" and don't worry about it.
You can check pump clearances, if it had good pressure, again, just leave it alone. If you want to replace the gears, get the HRC gears and a mid-plate from Matt here at the Bulltear store. I'm running them on both of my current engines, and had a set in the Jeep I sold too.

OK thanks again-we are going to go for it. Little nervous.
But it's all good.
Found a '85 360 out of a Waggy for jr's '74 CJ5. 130psi on all cylinders.
To many projects.
