Hey MC, What you do not see is the internal snorkel that the guy's at my shop fabricated for me, it is inside of the cab and it runs up and thru the bulkhead at the roof line, the bulkhead was fabricated about 12" behind the B-pillar (a smaller area to air condition during our hot wet summers). The area behind the rear side windows (this where the OE passive flow thru ventalation opening are) have been open to allow air to be drawn in and to circulate inside the rear area.
We also move the ECU to the roll cage stringer above the sun visor on the passenger side, so if any H2O gets that high then I'm no longer driving Lil-Shiite and an exterior snorkel would not do me any good either.
All of the engine bay electrical components (fan, misc. OE components and lighting relays, ECU data ports) have been moved to a SS NEMA box with waterproofed grommets and a heat sink to keep them kool.
I have also waterproofed the distributor having an O-ring gasket made for the cap so it's reusable and can transferred from one cap to another, and the cap vent is another trick of mine we tapped the vent with a NPT, screwed in a barbed fitting and ran a vent line to the air box.
We did the same thing with the differential's, trany, and T-case vent lines it makes for a much cleaner look, and the best thing of all no whistling sounds while I drive down the road.

Now waterproofing the axle housing is an engineering story all in it's own, you would be surprised what one can do with a little oakum, double oil seals and a couple of zerk fitting's.

Thats pretty sweet Mark! You should take some pics and do a "Waterproofing" page for us. I think that covering all aspects of off roading would really help this page out. Some of those tricks are pretty and would love to see some pictures!

Well that is until someone on the forum uses Ripway and goes over their free alotment and everone ends up with red X's for a 24Hr period, twits they should either spend the $5.00 a month or not post so much at one time......

One other thing as not to sound like an azzhole, but......
I will not post any pictures of an item that we may produce and/or market, because a few of our R&D projects have been compromised in the past and we ended up in litigation with someone after we have either had it copywrite-ed and/or Patented an item and/or process.....

My XJ and several other of our vehicles are rolling test cells & mules, as for the internal snorkel's it has been removed and is now being taken apart by the tool & die guy's for processing and production, and at this time I have two locales that have copied it......

But in the near future I'll be able to post them.....
