    pushrod length

Does any one know if the v8 heads w/o bridged rockers have a different pushrod length than the heads with studs?

I just installed my heads and adjusted the valves on my stud type setup. All of them wound up being tightened all the way down as far as they could go. Any insight on this would help.

Is this a hydraulic set up? Or the lifters empty? then they would tighten down a lot more and when you start the motor you could actually bend the valves when the lifter pumps up with oil.

They are hydraulic. I have been told that they need to be preloaded, unlike the bridged setup.

so you just installed single rockers on a bridged rocker head?

    1. make sure you have guideplates or the rocker will twist off the valve stem and bend the pushrod.
    2. as far as I know they are the same length they even share the same pt number

I believe the area with the stud is shorter on the pre-75 heads that were built without bridges. I was told to convert 75-up heads to studs required machining for height and guide plates. As far as I know, all AMC v-8s used the same length pushrods, regardless of year. I did use +.100" on my CJ with roller rockers to get better rocker angles.

My heads do not and never have had bridged rockers. They are the '70 and early '71 52.2cc heads casting 3199517.

Just FYI - pushrod length is 7.797 - 7.800, the exact same as SBC.

Yeah, I got the summit ones. I was just concerned about where they adjusted at. I won't worry until my gine starts making noises. Thanks for all the input.

FYI, the AMC stud rockers are not adjustable like the SBC. They are a positive stop style stud, which means you torque them down to I believe 19ft/lbs. and that's it, unless they've been replaced with SBC-type studs.
