Which AMC car do you have?

I am currently rebuilding (I won't say restoring, because it won't be original) a 69 AMX. I should have it back from the painter next week. It's Bittersweet Orange with a black stripe (factory colors). It will have a 390 built to produce about 450HP and 450 lb/ft of torque. Suspension has all been rebuilt, 3.73 gears, 2000 stall converter, rebuilt M12 automatic trans. Bumpers and tail light housings have been re-chromed, and all the stainless has been polished.

The only thing I haven't settled on is whether I go with a repro Magnum 500 wheel, or a new Torque thrust. I want to keep the wheels something that would have been available in 69.

    you'll eventually pay for it...
    and not have it.

Awesome sounds like it will be a riot

I have a black 74amx..sson to be getting either a built 360 or a mild 401..Not sure on rims or color yet. I am thinking maybe a custom graphic on the hood and trunk lid.

Although I do enjoy the stock look I also like the modern upgrades and new paint schemes

I obviously have 70 AMX. It has a mild to hot 360, or at least it feels like it. It is an original 390 car with a 4 speed. It still has the 4 speed and i want to put a 390 back in. My plan is to turn it into a road race type car. I'm going to get a suspension package, (springs, shocks, and sway bars), new seats, and maybe a new cam and carb.

I'd like to get new torque thrusts too.

401 in a hornet would seriously qualify as the not so quiet assassin

Ive got a '71 Javelin. right now almost all stock with a very tired 304 in it. The machine work is all done to the "new" 401 though and its just waitin to be assembeled. I'll get time to do it one of these days
The 401 has been bored .030, decked, align honed, Rotating assy. balanced, Crank is .010/.010, stock rods, TRW L2380F pistons, Havent decided on cam yet, probably stay fairly conservative, Tranny will be a TH 400.
My main concern right now is I need to bring my compresion down a bit so I dont have any detonation problems. I've got 6291-c heads and with this combo it will come to about 10.6:1, I would be more comfortable under 10:1
