So we are doing a skidplate bottom oil pan for AMC V8's and may add 1qt. extra capacity. The problem I have is do we do these in Chrome or yellow zinc?
Chrome...looks great...hold more heat than a painted pan
Yellow zinc ...Looks great (yellow) ...lasts as long as chrome (sometimes longer)...doesnt hold any excessive heat like chrome.

if you are goin to get the pan muddy or worse then chrome is not a good
option. just my 2 cents worth

Zinc it - don't need extra heat and who gives a rats butt if it shines!!! I'm not getting down there to polish it and it's on the bottom where the mud and road grime are anyway!!
