    360 Fuel line size

I need to run some hard line to a basically stock 360. Just a bit open on the intake and exhaust, and a 1 step over cam. Do I need to run 3/8 ID line, or will something smaller work. Stock mechanical fuel pump should work fine for me -- mostly used at under 3000 rpm offroading.

My factory V-8 CJ7 had a 5/16" feed and 1/4" return. When I went to the Howell EFI, they suggested 3/8 feed and 5/16 return, but it wasn't mandatory.
