These are options we could do, I am asking for a opinion on these
1. forged rods?
2. Forged pistons?
3. Over bore with block filler?
4. Built for horespower
5. Built for torque

While I won't buy a ticket since i have no need for an AMC engine, here is a suggestion. Build either for torque or horsepower, depending on who wins it and how they intend on using it. OBVIOUSLY if it's for street and strip, you want the quarter horses, and if it's for the Crawlers, you want some of those big Belgians pulling for you.

let the winner decide. each person has a preference. mine would be
for the daily grind and for the usual offroad abuse.
83 eagle (r.i.p.)
85 gl1200 gold wing LTD pilot
1999 gl1500C valkyrie(plain gold wing)
1994 jeep grand cherokee limited pilot
McDonnell Douglas c-17 mechanic
corrupting people since 1962
I agree with letting the winner decide on the HP/TQ issue. But forged rods, pistions, over bore, oiling mods, etc do all of it.
Economy!!! Make it a sipper not a guzzler with a good sounding rumble
JUST KIDDING!!
I'm sorta with Red Dog, I would use it as a multipurpose beastie in the DD as well as off road abuse. Reliability centered with enough azz to haul a CJ/YJ around smartly on 87 octane and not need nitrus to run effectively. Like I sad in the 401 thread reliability on the trail is my goal. I would rather pull than be pulled.
Fuel injection would be nice

I'm with fuzz, ballz to the wallz!! On a serious note, I'm mot really concerned with the octane of gas I have to use, as long as I'm not getting 8 miles to the gallon with crappy horsepower to show for it like my old 304 used to get. I could hang with a 4.0 HO up to about 45mph then I would fall behind. Oh, and if you could just go ahead and designate me the winner, that would work as well!

Well this time we offered the winner (mulescj his choice of camshaft. I think when we are talking about a build, the camshaft will be the only thing to be left open

If you leave the camshaft open, what's going to hold the pushrods in??? Tack them to the rockersOriginally Posted by jeepsr4ever
