    73 CJ5 Oil pan troubleshooting

I'm looking for the magic methood of taking off the oil pan from my 304. There seems to be a metal plate across the sump, of which the oil pump is below. I would like to leave the block in the Jeep and the bell-housing on. Any tip swould be greatly appreciated

The only problems I ever had was with the motor mounts hitting the pan. I just used a BFH and a large screw driver and was able to get it off after a little "finessing". Just go at it hard core while not totaly screwing your pan up so it won;t seal correctly next time! Use more muscle!

Well Im guessing your having trouble with the pickup hanging up on the baffle inside the pan .. The pickup tube screws into the block, so if you can get enough grip on it to loosen it you can swivel it to help free the pan..

But the most succesful plan is pop the engine mounts and lift the engine a s far as you can..
