    twin stick explaination, PLEASE!

Looking to buy that D300, but I'm not sure what the twin stick thing is all about. Every 300 I see for sale has the single stick. Could someone fill me in? Also should I be anticipating drive shaft differences? Lengths or couplers, ?? I think with everyones help so far, I have about got this thing whooped! oh ya by the way I have a np229 now.

Twin Stick is an after market option that could be added to the Dana 300. It allows you to be in 4 wheel drive, 2 wheel drive, 4 wheel low, 2 wheel low, or just front wheel drive as well. It helps sometimes when you have a front locker and need to make a turn on a trail you could disengage teh front axle, or if you break something in the rear, you could stick it in front wheel drive.

It overall gives you more freedom, and more options...

As far as the differances, I am not sure I have never had a 229

Yep. Great option. I run twin sticks on my 300. I also have a full detroit in the Dana44 front on my CJ. I do about 80% of my 'wheeling in 2LOW, only lock the front when the obstacles get hard (full Detroit in the rear too). Makes it much easier to negotiate the turns, and it's easier on the entire driveline too.

I don't know much about the 229, but is it passenger or drivers side drop? The 300 is passenger side drop....
