Is my oil pressure within spec?

    60 psi at startup.
40 psi cruising at interstate speed.
    13 psi hot idle

AMC 360 with 10K on remanufactured engine.

I am currently running Mobil 10W-40

My 1979 TSM says I meet the minimums but as we all know that does not usually equal a long lasting engine for the AMC 360's.

My goal is to get more than 80K on this engine this time around.

    Thanks.

Sounds a little low hot...probly due to pump scoring

What would you recommend as a fix to get the oil pressure up a bit?

If it were me this is what I would do in this order

    1. New oil filter
    2. thinner gasket and new gears
    3. midplate
    4. new oil filter adaptor
    5. new timing cover

    Ok thanks for the tip.

I will try the new filter and will probably go with the new pump gears.

    Is that a difficult install?

I need to look at my TSM.

Sounds like a good beginning. If those don't work - like MC said, try the thinner gasket and midplate, and if that doesn't work, then get a new timing cover. You'll track it down eventually!!!
