    Hello

New to this, so here we go.
    I have a stock '86 jeep with
    4.2/999 auto/ Dana 300/Dana 30/Dana 44
Want to swap to 727 torqueflite
Will it bolt up without major mods?
Will I have to modify drive shaft?

Why? The 999 hes a lower 1st gear than the 727(2.74 vs 2.48 I think)
    and it's shorter too.
IF IT STILL STARTS DO IT AGAIN!

You can swap it but you will need to run some lift in front as part of the pan will hit the front driveshaft....unless you have a clockingplate

keep the 999. changing your current setup might not be worth the hassle.

Thanks for the reply's, I have a spare 999 at the rebuilders now, should be ready this week. I was told that the 904 is the same except lower first gear. Is this good info?

I do believe it depends on what it came from.. Didnt the 904 with the AMC bellhousing share the same first gear with the 999's?
