    No Oil Pressure!!

    So....

My jeep was running bad. 79 cj-5, 304v8.

I changed the oil and filter used sythetic blend 10w30, cleaned the plugs.
Wasnt getting gas - solved that.

NOW IT HAS NO OIL PRESSURE!!!!! no oil even going to the gauge.

-I checked the pump - looks ok - nicks on the fins but I dont think
it would cause absolutely no pressure.
-I put the old filter back on - still nothing.
-I checked the pickup and screen, seems ok- blew through it just fine!

There was very little oil in the new filter when I pulled it off so it doesnt seem
    to be pushing through

    HELP.

This is what I am going to try since I have nothing else. Getting a rebuild
kit for the pump and see if thos nicks and scratches are causing it.
Using non synthetic oil to see if it just isnt sealing.

Someone on Jeepforum told me about this site!!! NICE SITE!!
He suggested a new Oil Filter Adapter w/o the bypass.
What are the chances of that actually being my problem.
I checked my plunger and it was really hard to move, but it seemed
to be pressed all the way in.

Sorry for so much in one post, but I wanted to get all the info done.

I need to move in 2 weeks and I really dont want to tow it to the new house!!

Let me know if you have any thoughts.

    Thanks

    !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Check to make sure the plunger is in first and take the large 7/8 nut off and the spring and plunger should fall out. Clean off the plunger and install it first, then the spring and then the retaining nut with washer. You should have these in your oil filter adaptor. Check the wire running to the oil sending unit on the lower front part of the block and make sure it is hooked up

It did not fall out. It is hard to move!!!

It seemed to be pretty much stuck all the way in.
So I would think it would be stuck in the way I want it
stuck (if it has to be stuck :)

Would the wire on the back of the unit matter??
I dont thing it has been hooked up for some time, since
the wire doesn't seem long enough?

If your wire isnt hooked up you wont read any oil pressure. If your plunger is stuck you oil pressure may seem extremely high. Try hooking the wire back up and adding some to it first.

All right. I will try that!! I thought that was just to
turn on the oil light though?? Cause I am pretty sure it
    has never been hooked up.

adding some what to it first?????

You said it didnt stretch that far so I mentioned splice some wire to it.

    Ah. Grammar :)

It is a mechanical unit, does this matter?

I wont be able to do this until saturday or Sunday, so
I figured I would ask as many questions as possible first!

Let's say it isnt this, what would be your second guess.

So I put in the new pump kit, including the spring and plunger
and still seems to have nothing. I also hooked up the guage wire!
Unfortunately, it seems my fuel pump crashed as well, cause
it is not getting fuel either. AAHHHHHHHH.

    Any other thoughts.

If your fuel pump is bad it is probly dumping gas into your oil. Take a few sniffs of the oil to see if its full of gas. You may also want to either take a old distributor and try priming the pump or use a priming tool. ...something is wrong between the pan and your pump

I like the priming the pump idea. Do you think the pin sheered off in the distributor that turns the oil pump gear? Just a thought...
