I pulled the intake manifold off my 401 and found a 'wierd' surprise.....
There is a thin piece of sheetmetal over the valley complete with intake holes and what i would guess to be drain holes at the bottom for oil.
That is this thing?!? I was expecting to see a gasket of sorts....and there wasnt even that. Im a newbie when it comes to these engines, but im going to take a guess that it probably keeps hot oil from splattering onto the underside of the intake manifold
Anyway, is this thing going to seal back up when i reinstall the manifold? I was carefull when removeing it so it isnt dinged up or anything....also, do i need to use a bead of silicon anywhere on this thing? (it didnt have any silicone residue when i removed it.....)
Jeez i feel like a rookie here....save me oh V8 gurus
