    Oil pump Priming

Priming info. AMC 401 new Bull Tear Cover.

I haven't got there yet but was wondering. When I start to prime the oil pump in the engine do I need to do anything other than oil to start it. I have heard of using vasoline or grease to jump start to operation. What do you guys recomend?

You should prime it and not use petrolium jelly. You can prime it using a old distributor. PJ can lead to bloated filters, stuck relief valves.

That I can do. I have an old distributor and will prime away. Got my new timing cover. Boy am I glad I replaced the old one. Comparing I found more wear than I had originally thought. =D>

Just need by dizzy and gear set and I will be ready to reassemble!
