Looks like a decent adaptation of a classic.
But it's a Dimestore-Chrysler vehicle. So no, I won't be buying one.
Besides, I have my GTO and it's plenty fun.

I guess Im a sucker.. I have seriously looked at the "New Charger" and the Magnum and this spanky little challenger would be a lot of fun.. (I guess it's the old..Well I could buy a "real Hemi challenger" for 150 grand or this one for 30..

If it was available with a manual transmission, I'd sure consider it.
1969 Rebel 401 TH400
1978 J10 401, QT
1978 Wag 401 QT
1973 Javelin AMX in pieces.
The next generation Camaro and GTO (same chassis coming out in '08 model year) should have a manual transmission. And they're sure to be much better than the previous generation all around.Originally Posted by tarior

not much of a step up, trade in the wife's hemi magnum
drive off in new challenger

the talk around the dealership is if this thing actually makes it into production ( if it does it's going to be a 2009 model year) that the price is going to be around $50-$60k
well yea, but at the exponential rate the cost of new cars is rising 50 to 60 grand will be average..in 2009.
I think it's a conspiracy.. New cars are almost too expensive to buy and gas for them is at a level that you either make the car payment or fill the tank.. (I think yugo is behind it. it may be the only way to sell those doorstops)

Mass production was SUPPOSED to result in ever-lower prices. The manufacturers have somehow turned the tables & twisted Henry Ford's original idea into a sucker's game. I think the major players have changed their industry into more like individual countries with themselves as dictators, reaping huge salaries & bonuses to cook the books (& force limits on wages & benefits due to the "meager" profits), & leave the stockholders with whatever is left.
Take a look at the PC market, mass production success!!!
I would rather keep my AMXs than buy a mass-produced, cookie cutter, whoopie-doo hemi pooch, anyway.

There's nothing "limited" about auto worker wages and benefits these days...
