    AMC V8 Hornet on eBay

I've always lusted after smallish cars with large engines.

I once owned a '73 Chevy Nova hatchback with a SBC.
I like the early model Duster/Demons with a 340 Six Pack

    ..and now, a 1973 Hornet with a 360 V8.
OH MY! This is a true Ford/Chevy/Mopar Slayer!

There has been some discussion of the 1971 Hornet SC/360 is this thread:
    AMC in the movies

Take one 70ish econo-box car and add one AMC 360 V8 with TF727 tranny...instant bullet.
I know how a strong 360 will perform in a 3/4 ton, 4WD pickup truck...how do ya think a strong 360 will do in a featherweight Hornet?

Here is a good example on eBay
From the VIN, I was told this was originally an I6 car, but it appears someone has done a nice job of converting it to a V8

I had a 73 Hornet hatchback just like that except mine was a pale yellow. I built it just after I was out of high school, maybe 1979. My parents gave it to me with a lot of hard miles on the 232 I-6. The v-8 swap was easy. Front crossmember and mounts from a junkyard v-8 Gremlin, 360 (4bbl) from a wrecked Wagoneer. Bolted right up to the existing tranny. What a sleeper. The only thing that gave it away was the dual exhausts and the rumble of turbo mufflers.

Looking at the differences, I seem to like the later '74 Hornet body style over the earlier '71 model.

    What are your preferences?
