AMC TorqFlite 904 Automatic Transmission Used

Looking for a used AMC TorqFlite 904 Automatic Transmission.
Just the trans alone, or maybe even with the converter and Flexplate.

Pretty sure the 904 was used in just about any AMC car behind 304 V8's after 1971.

Is there a 3rd type of TorqFlite that AMC Used ? a 999 or 996 or sumthin?

I am located in Cincinnati Ohio.

    Thanks

Is the Tranny Bellhousing to Block bolt and dowel patterns and sizes the same on AMC strait sixes and V-8's ?

Also wonder if the Tranny internals, hubs planetaries clutches splines, are the same in one from behind a 6 as one from behind a 304.

Know a 904 isn't as stout as a 727 and will have a shorter service life, but can be rebuilt with heavy duty parts. Understanding is that the 904 "consumes" around 30 less horsepower than a 727 due to the fact the internal parts are considerably lighter than those found in the 727. So 30 more horspower of the total produced by the motor gets to the back tires and there is even a reduction in the cars total wieght. For quarter mile runs, any increase in horsepower at the tire and reduction in wieght are both good things.

Would like to find one from behind a 304 since any differences in interanls between it and a 6 are not known, but will keep it on the list as a possibilty while researching information.

the 6's and 8's use the same bolt pattern

fuzz401, the picture beside the link in your sig does not show up. Is the image file still "good", or is it sumthin' with my system ? Actually a number of images in posts don't display on my system, like the pictures of the block sawed in half in the Engines forum. Thanks for your help.

hmmmm ..... so I wonder why more or less NONE of the image files located at the jeepsr4ever/imgbay.com, or whatever, location will display on my system ? Even cut and pasted the webpage image path into my browser, IE 5, and still am not able to view image files.

I'd like to see those pictures of a 360 Block sawed in half.

maybe someone up there is tryin' to tell me I'm not worthy .....

Hello, and thanks, but I already have a 727 and it has worked great and is bullitproof. Looking for a 904 to maybe try out. The internals are smaller and lighter than the 727. From what I've been told, the 904 consumes 30-35 less horsepower than the 727, which means that horspower gets to the tire rather than being used to spin the 727 Tranny.

    Thanks
