From what I've been told, the 904 consumes 30-35 less horsepower than the 727, which means that horspower gets to the tire rather than being used to spin the 727 Tranny.

    Thanks
I don't know if the 2wd tranys had different gear ratios but the CJ/YJ 999's had a 2.74/1 vs 2.48/(in the 727) 1 first gear. Not bad for a 3sp auto, it might get you off the line a little quicker.
IF IT STILL STARTS DO IT AGAIN!

Does the Tranny Pan look like the 904 in this picture ?
What would you want for it ?
How far are you from CinsorNasty Ohio ?
Don't suppose there's any way it could be shipped ?

I'm a lil over 4 hours away from cincinnati I believe. I'd like $150. It is a good tranny complete with torque converter and linkage

That's a reasonable price. If gas was only so reasonable
Sounds like it's what I'm looking for.
What year Javelin did it come out of ?
May I ask if you could look and see if there are two external ribs on the case above the rear servo ?
If it was from a 304 car it may be a TF-998 Tranny which is supposed to have those 2 ribs,
whereas a 904 does not, which is okay, cause I would prefer the TF-998.
Have been learnin' a lot of info about'em from the internet.
Maybe somehow meet somewhere inbetween here and there ?
Just asking is all, maybe cover some of your gas costs ?
Mapquest says 285 miles from Fenton MI to Cincy.
Like I could drive 2 1/2 hours and that way you'd only have to do 1 1/2 ?
Would that be maybe Bowling Green or Perrysburg OH at I-475/23 and I-75 ?
Mapquest says its 190 miles & 3 hours from Cincy to Perrysburg,
and 98 miles and 1-1/2 hours from Fenton MI to Perrysburg OH.
Hmmm, I guess the danger of looking or asking is a person might actually find one.

Yeah it's a 998 from a 74 javelin 304. It could have been rebuilt just from the looks of it but I don't know. I'm going to end up using a 727. I've met someone in bowling green before to trade parts. right at the waffle house. It's an added bonus because we don't have them in Michigan. For a little gas money I'd be willing to drive there.
