    67 rambler american 440

    hi guys new member here

i found a 67 rambler today it is just a six cylinder car but i do like it. low miles and really clean. my question is does anybody make suspension upgrades for these cars? i want it mostly as a weekend cruiser but if it ends up with a v8 i thought it may need suspension upgrades to carve those corners!! any advice would be much appreciated.

If it's got a 232 or 258 I-6, an AMC v-8 will bolt to the existing trans, you would need to change the front crossmember to a V-8 part.

If it's a 199, the trans has a different bolt pattern, so you'd need to change that too.

The trunnion suspension isn't that bad, and parts to rebuild them are available. Sway bar kits are also out there. There was someone on www.amcforums.com that was prototyping a replacement strut type front suspension for the AMX/Javelin. It might fit the Rambler too since the suspension is nearly identical.
