Is anyone beside crown making new timing covers? If so who is making the best ones? Who makes the ones sold here at bulltear?

I believe Crown is the only company casting them. Even the ones you get from a dealer are Crown covers. Indy makes a replacement cover, but you have to use their oil pump, total cost is nearly $1000.
The covers MC sells here are test fitted and cam/dist gear and oil pump clearances verified before shipping.

Does the MC find many bad covers? I've got 2 new Crown covers and the oil pump gear clearance is .0025 in both. I had hoped the clearace would have been closer to .0005. Is there a way to check the dizzy gear/cam line up, or does that take a special jig?
You will not find a stock cavity with a .0005 clearance. You have to be carefull with the knicks in the gears even at .0025. We check the covers with alignment pins, linear tolerance jigs...ect. We still have maybe 10% that go back to Crown but I do believe that number has decreased with the whole last shipment being in spec
