The new gears I have for the AMC360 have two small indent ions one one of the teeth, are these some type of timing mark or just a reference to what way the gears should be facing?
If they are any thing like the after market Hi Po set I know of there should be a mark on each gear (driven & drive) 1 mark @ the peak, other 1 @ a valley. You want to line the 2 marks up next to each other, the peak into the valley. Make sense?
They are there as a reference like you said, when they where made they where “lapped in” to match and if you where to install them another way they would not match.
This could lead to low performance from the pump, wearing out sooner, no oil psi., etc.
I could be wrong too, might try calling who you got them from to double check.
I'll give them a call tomorrow, I'm not at home right now but if I recall the dots are both one the tooth so I can't line them up like you were talking about but it makes sense. Thanks
