Thread: What kind of power will I be putting out? AMC 360 1988

    Runs GREAT!

Jesus christ does it accelerate! I can EASILY from a 10mph roll pull my drivers side front tire off the ground and hold it there for a little bit. If I drop the clutch it pulls both well up off the ground. Accelerates like a bat out of hell, only way I can describe it. 0-60 in 6 seconds or less. And this is with my stock 2.73 gears and 33 inch tires!

What an upgrade from my tired 258 straight 6 that couldn't hold 65mph on the highway and did 0-60 in 23 seconds on a slight downhill!

The 750cfm carb everyone was saying wouldn't run well works great, no sputtering or anything... when the secondaries kick in ... vrooooom lol. Doesn't seem to run rich at all.

Do you think it is producing anything less than 250hp?

I wouldn't think so with the ridiculous amount of power this thing has.

With tha extra HP/Torque you might want to re-enforce your frame a little... To keep it from twisting... I'd laugh if I saw a Jeep with it's front wheel barely touching the road. Or not even touching it.... My old 79 304 that was in the Jeep before the 360 would pop the wheels off of the ground with-out dumping the clutch... 6.32 1st gear, Ford 9" w/3.50 gears sitting on 35" BFG's...

Haha by dumping the clutch I mean at a slight roll drop the clutch around 2,000rpm and then flooring it

When I get 3.73 or 4.11 gears I'm sure it will be even more ridiculous.

Looking great! Yes its hard to imaging that kind of power out of a 258 however if you dump $$$ you can get close

    Congrats

I just put the finnishing tuches on my CYJ with the 360 (R4B intake, ported 291C heads, H-272-2 Crane Cam, Edelbrock 650 carb) I dont know what the power numbers are put I went to the local parking lot and started doing donuts with my 35" Boggers!!! Thats a crazy amount of power for a light little Jeep! But hey I'm not complaining!
