    strange voltage readings

when i first start my jeep and whenever i have my lights or blinkers on my volt gauge reads 12 volts. when driving it goes up to 14 volts. The voltage also fluctuates when the jeep is at idle. what could cause this and what is the best way to fix it. my alternator is a rebuilt unit and i have tried another alternator that i know is good and still have the same problem.

Is the alternator internally regulated, or is there an external regulator. If it's external, first check that it's grounded properly to the fender. If the ground is good, replace the regulator.

its a gm 10si so its internal. the alternator should be grounded through the mount its bolted to. could my problem have anything to do with how the stock voltage gauge is wired.
