    Mean Green Starter

Hey guys, I just installed one of these starters on my 304 and I have a question. It engages nicely, cranks great, but when the engine fires, and takes off, I get a bit of a grinding noise. Is this normal? Does anyone have any expierence with these? Its not bad, but just want to be sure I am not tearing up a 300 dollar starter. Thanks in advance

Sounds to me like the starter is not disengaging (spell check) properly, maybe needs to be shimed out a little?

I would second that.. or check the ring gear for burrs from the old starter.. this can sometimes hang them up.
