    Pertronix Ignitor II

I am considering an Ignitor II and a HV coil in a GM style points distributor for a 401. Does anybody have thoughts or experience.

I had one of the first gen pertronix units in my AMX for a while. It worked really well, much better than points. Started easier and idled smoother. The only thing you have to watch out for is excessive up/down movement of the distributor shaft. The first gen units would overheat and burn out if you left the ignition on without the car running. I heard they fixed that in the Pertronix II.

Thanks for the info. I think I will try an Ignitor II and see what happens. I will post back if I see problems.

One of the best upgrades I ever did to the 360 in my 73 J4000. I constantly had problems with the points and replaced them with a Pertronix about 6 years ago. Haven't messed with the ignition since.
