    New Project........... Midplate

Well again like the Orphans we AMCers are .........
You just can't call up Mr Jegs or Mr Summit or even Mr Bulltear and say send me a midplate. So the material was delivered yesterday and I started cutting to make a midplate. Material is .187 thick 4130 normalized.
I'm using the original backing plate as a pattern.

This is .187 thick and the stock piece is .090 thousanths. So to answer your question .090 thousanths. If I need to I can mill the starter area down. I'll know that when I assemble.
Well it's done after a couple hours.

    Why?

If you have a stock piece, why make a new one? Or did I miss something somewhere?

im im looking at it right, he is replacing the stock with this one which will give a diffent mounting position (stronger?) along with the factory mounts im guessing, the midplate acts also as an engine mount

Yep, it's not just a direct copy of the OEM one. Note the two extensions sticking out to the sides.
