Started working on the chambers of my 090 castings last night.
After unshrouding the valves with a round cutter indexed off the valve guides we are only at 60cc's - Shooting for at least 63cc's to get CR in check (at least down to 9.3:1) and was wanting to get to 65cc's for some conservatism (about 9.1:1) so as not to be stuck running premium fuel.
Looks like we are going to have to hog out the chamber walls a considerable amount, out to the circumferance of the bore opposite the quench area.
Installing bronze valve guides and valve job today and will then cc again to see where we are at - thinking that the valves will sit a little deeper after this. Will also be doing some blending of the spot faces and some minor polishing of the chamber surfaces but I don't think this is going to get us to 65cc's without opening up the chambers themselves.
How far did you have to go?
