I like to see about 25 psi idling and about 55 psi @ 2500+ rpm. I'm getting about 60 psi out of my 15 year old 401 now that I've installed a mid plate, new spring/plunger and changed oil filters.

My freahly rebuilt 390 gets 20 @ idle & 60-65 @ 2500 plus when hot, and I have a nickel cover with an old spring new plunger.
