    Priming oil pump gear?

I see people talking about pouring oil into the pump to prime it, but what part are you talking about filling up?

you prime it with a power drill and a dizzy shaft through the distributor hole in the timing cover.

I usually just take a squirt type oil gun and fill the gear area thru the oil filter hole (before installing the filter). Then spin the pump with an electric drill thru the distributor hole to be sure it builds pressure. You just need enough oil in the gears to create suction to pull the oil up out of the pan.
