MC-rear housing meaning the tail shaft? If so I think it's aluminum (I would have to double check tonight) cause every D-300 I have seen is cast iron.

Rollbar the Dana 300 has a aluminum tailshaft and the Dana 20 has a cast steel tailshaft. Paint and dirt can hide the material pretty well.

I almost 100% sure it's a D-300. 4L, 2wd, N, 4H on the shifter & it looks exactly like one. I must be loosing my mind after all these years. Pics tonight but Peach just called & said she went wheeling this morning B-4 work .

P.S. I had that backwards, the D-300 has the alum tail & the D-20 cast. Told U I was loosing it.

Well it seems like I need to go to the funny farm or I was thinking of another tranny. Sorry to put U through this (moderator, delete if U want to) but it seems from getting some of the brown mud off the tranny is aluminum so it must be a T-4. Below are the T-case numbers & tranny numbers. Wow, did I have a memory lapse. I'm embarrassed , oh well

    T4

If its a T4 it should have the no 13 -51 cast into it somewhere. Its supposed to be a weak trans and best swapped out.

IT has some numbers cast in the front where the bell housing bolts to. I seen the number 23 & some others but couldn't make them out. I need younger eyes . I'll see if I can get them.
