:( cancer is taking a buddy away

A good friend and fellow shop owner found out he has terminal cancer. He has liver, kidney and colon cancer. His doc said he has 3-6mos without chemo and 1-2 years with chemo. He thinks it was from Agent Orange when he was fighting. Damn cancers man.......

Sorry to hear that. our prayers are with him and his family.

i hear you, cancer is extremely frustrating, i have lost two friends in the past year from it both in the 29-31 ballpark, no warning. Make the best of the time you have with them.

its a long shot but they have made leaps and strides in the treatments. some of the alternative treatments have proved mixed results. I know my grandfather was diagnosed with colon and prostate cancer with a 15% chance of survival and 12 months to go. one doctor suggested a change in diet to help slow the cancers, one low in sugar since studies had show cancers thrive on sugar. and a diet high in whatever it was tomatos have in them, that old fart kicked it 6 months ago and got a clean bill of health. three years of off and on chemo and alot of excersize to keep his energy level up and amazzingly enough those odds can be beat.

Dont let your buddy throw in the towel yet.

    Good luck

Hey I'm livin proof that statistics are just what they are.

When I was diagnosed 9 years ago the Doc' s gave me a 30 percent chance to live,

Well 9 yrs later I'm here on the Bulltear Forums,
a positive attitude, good doc's, a excellent hospital and the will to live (or find something to live for)
along with a few well placed prayers sometimes does wonders.

For your friend MC from a friend , I'm pullin for him .

My prayers are with your friend.

I know how you feel. I lost a very close friend (at age 45) to throat cancer a few years ago. I still think about him and miss him all the time.

The sorry thing was that he complained to his doctor for over a year about throat pain. The doctor diagnosed it as acid reflux, and kept treating it as such with progressively stronger meds, although it wasn't really helping. When it got to a point where he couldn't swallow, they finally did a biopsy, but it was too late. He went thru surgery, chemo, and radiation. I watched him lose almost 100 lbs.

I do have some great memories of our last couple of 'wheeling trips together, I'll always cherish those.

Lost an Aunt (Wife's side) and my mother-in-law had a double done due to breast cancer. She did the diet change and chemo as well, but she's a 7 year survivor now.

One Army buddy is a 10 Year survivor after they told him 6-8 months. Had his thoat cut out (esophogeal cancer) and can't talk, and drinks food from a blender, but can type about 200 words a minute into his 'talking machine'. He's now single again (wife was a bitch - wouldn't quit smoking in the house!!) and he's back teaching martial arts (black belt in 2 or 3 styles I think) !!!

There are ways to beat it. http://www.cancercenter.com/

Best of luck to your friend!!
