    401 worth

I really don't want to...but money is tight and Christmas is coming. I am THINKING about selling my spare 401. Standard bore and crank. What's it worth?

Well if your located in the Michigan area it's only worth about $50. I'll be over to pick it up tonight!

Just kidding.......I recently paid $350 for a complete 1978 401 w/std bore and crank, that I knew turned over by hand, but of unknown condition other than I knew it was in normal rebuildable condition....worse case. I had to drive 5-6 hrs each way and pull it from the truck. I thought I got a pretty good deal. I wouldn't take less than $500. That seems to be the minimum going rate around here for a rebuildable one....if you can find one.

Complete stock with stock carb flexplate, pulleys, valve covers, etc I'd say $700.
Correct matching casting date heads etc.
A '73 or older especially since they're screw in rocker heads.

For someone restoring a 401 car anyways.

If stock pieces are missing, then less.

We got one with all of the above plus a TF999 and a Dana 300 hanging on it for $500. Not as good as the deals some of you got, but not too bad either. It's an early one too with the individual rocker studs.

Well, right now I am getting a little overtime, so I am hoping not to. But the kids come first. I'll post in the "for sale" if I have to sell.

    Thanks
