I remember my first 727 dana 300 swap. I made it one mile before I MELTED the front driveshaf t in half with my tranny pan. I grabbed the shaft in disbelief and burned the heck out of my fingers. I had a 85CJ7 with a 360 and 2.5"s of lift

I plan on buying the AA kit to add a dana 300. I am not to concerned about eating horsepower. I only drive it to work a few times month, especially with gas over 3 bucks a gallon. It is mostly a backup vehicle. The reason I am looking to convert to an automatic is so my wife can drive it to work if necessary in the snow. Only 4x4 in the house.
That's why I recommended the 999.Originally Posted by jeepsr4ever

TF999s can be had cheap. I'm picking up a good one with a 300 next weekend for $300. They were in CJs and YJs. I saw one FS last week for $150, which included a 4.2L.
they all must be over in PA, none here in and around columbus anyway.
Damn.....if you guys had gotten to me 3 years ago i would gave em away.....had 3 of em and sold them for cores.....20 bucks a piece and 75 a piece for the 3 dana 300's
1980 CJ-5, 360 powered, T-18, Dana 20, Advanced Adapters output , 4.56's, Dana 30 frt chromoly shafts w/297 joints and Tru-Trac and M20 rear with Detroit, Superior shafts, and disc brakes and Tom Woods frt and rear shafts.........about 10k in misc aftermarket parts!
Ive had the turbo 400 dana 20 setup for about 5 years, works damn good in any conditions, any angle, I think the 400 came from a 60's wagoneer and novac enterprises makes an exact replica of the original xfer case adaptor if you ever needed one.
