Is it possible to increase torque without increasing HP? I only use my truck to haul firewood and move stuff. Don't need to race. Would like to increase MPG. Any help? Don't do any rock crawling. May get into a muddy place sometimes fetching wood.

For stock application you won't notice the difference besides the noise... The Amc motors/exhaust breath pretty well for a factory set-up...Originally Posted by woodfar51

You can also try an ignition module. A larger cap and hotter coil or a HEI may liven things up quite a bit.

Yes!! The ignition upgrade made a HUGE difference in my truck.. I used the MAllory ignition box with a big coil, Better starts improved power and I picked up some mileage, My J-10 will do 17-19 mpg.. If i can keep my foot out of it,
