OK this is probably in the wrong spot.
I just picked up a "new" jeep. it is a 1980 CJ-5 258 4 spd soft top. I got it for a good price. The tub is history so I have decided to part it out.
What tranny would this be?
Anyone have any interest in parts?

1980 was the first year for the T-176 4 speed, mated to the Dana 300 t-case (if it's OE). The trans is medium duty, will hold up to a stock/mild V-8. The 300 t-case is desirable for the shorter rear output, 81 up are longer.

you'll eventually pay for it...
and not have it.

Very cool! I have passed on a couple of glass and steel tubs for cheap. If I run across one I will let you know Phil!

Thanks for keepin an eye MC but this one has a firm date with the gas axe!
When I told my wife I bought another Jeep I was greeted with a few minutes of DEAD silence and then the question "what are you going to do with this one?" "park it out with the other ones to rot away?"
So this one I have to at least make my money back.
CHEERS!
