back to the build. I guess last time we worked on this was around Jan... ha ha... nothing to much tonight... just started to change the bearings in the third member...

the tape that they used for the power coating was a sum a biatch to remove...

1 year after we purchased the press, we finally get to use it.

we didn't have any brass punches and instead ofusing a steel punch, we placed the old bearings in the new race then placed a pipe "no poop pipe must be used" and macked her down... worked great.

    same with the pinion side.

can't forget about the shop dog... Mr. Wrinkles...

    finalizing the gearz...

not done, but we tested it anyways...

wtf is this? as we were checking the pattern i noticed this. It looks like the metal is just rotting from the inside out. so should i stop and replace the ring gear?

That last picture looks like the carrier, not the ring gear??

Just a typical porous casting on the carrier. It won't hurt a thing to use it.

    carrier ring gear... what evar...

for right now we just want the car to be a roller, since the gearz are 2.76's we'll change it to 3.73 i hope... not to sure if thier is a carrier break or not, but if anything we'll replace and leave it as a spare.

your the only one to say this... forst thing Cat said to me "i miss Japan"

    ha ha...

now for tonight's round of pics...

as of right now i need to make this car a roller... i need to get the axles in and then put her on rollers... so i can put the pontoon in and start working on it... Summers coming and the lakes are calling... of course i have a couple thousand pics of everything, but i can't find a pic up close of the pontoon...

here it is with all of are other stuff "junk"

back to the axle, little painting...

of course it wasn't drying fast enough, so...

    new seal...

of course since this is just going to be a roller... we took the breaks off and in order to fit the axles we had to make some "shop shims"

    good for a roller...

also forgot to add some old pics of the car from the blasting work about 2 months ago...

Frank - what's the plan for the old Willy's you got out there? Happen to have a 54 or a 55?
